People often say you can’t do everything great. The Matador is out to prove them wrong. Situated just around the corner from the Light Rail stop on 3rd St. and Washington, and just a block to the East of the Light Rail stop at Central/Washington, in downtown Phoenix, the Matador will satisfy any spicy appetite.
Aside from the killer Mexican fare they are known for, chefs are also cooking up tasty dishes from Greece and a few American classics too. Eating with picky friends? No problem, Matador offers an a la carte menu if you feel like a taco and some French fries, you can have it!
The Matador features a beautiful bar, perfect for a pitcher of Margaritas before a baseball game with friends. They’ve got you covered for a great in and out lunch spot with co-workers as well. The staff is friendly but fast so you won’t have to wait just in case you are in a time crunch. I sat down at noon on a busy Friday and I was facing a steaming hot plate of rice, beans, and chicken tacos within ten minutes. As it goes with any great Mexican restaurant the portions are hefty and come with a below average price tag.
If you find yourself wandering around Phoenix before an early morning class or your train arrives early for work, you’re in luck. The Matador also features breakfast with a south of the border flair as well as traditional rise and shine favorites. The prices are a steal, the food always comes out fast and delicious, and if you stop by on a Sunday you can munch on your chips and salsa to the grooves of a live mariachi band, OLE!
